Makea – Human Trooper
Hails from the planet Chalacta. Chalacta was a Mid Rim world. The Chalactans were a well-known, baseline Human culture, though were so distinct, that they were considered Near-Humans. They were dark-haired, dark-skinned, and deeply spiritual. They were known for the Chalactan Adepts, who built many temples for their religion.
The Chalactan Adepts or Adepts of Chalacta were a philosophical-mystic order of Chalactans that studied at the Temple of Illumination. Their teachings allowed for invulnerability to mental manipulation and torture. The Adepts believed that the natural laws that governed the universe also governed the lives of those who inhabited it. The goal of every Adept was to seek the Chalactan Enlightenment. Those who reached it wore the Greater Mark of Illumination; those who were seeking it wore the Lesser Mark. The two marks together symbolized the Adepts. Jedi Master Depa Billaba had attained the rank of Adept in the final decades of the Galactic Republic.
Although Chalacta is known for its adepts and their teaching, Makea’s familial background has always been in law enforcement and the military. The youngest of three children, her family is deeply spiritual though a connection with the natural world (think Native American), but her father’s calling was to order and the safe-keeping of their people, reaching the position of general with the local military before retiring. He was loving in his own way but also very strict. Her mother held the family together, holding down the fort while her husband was deployed then artfully deferring to him when he returned; she had initially entertained the idea of following the pathway to becoming an Adept, but left to become a mother and wife, instead.
Makea has two older brothers with whom she is very close. Growing up, they always teased her for being the “kid sister” but included her in all their games and watched over her. They were not easy on her, though, and she toughened as well as learned about honor and fair play (to give it and to not necessarily expect it) in their company. Both of her brothers were also drawn to careers in the military, one following his father’s footsteps in the Chalactan military, and one joining the Republic a few years before Makea did. The competition between the three remains fierce, but loving, with each proud of the accomplishments of the others.
Makea had no problems making friends for she was gracious and solid and fair, and was not threatening to women nor overtly alluring to men, but she had never had a serious relationship (and was not all that interested in pursuing one). Makea had never considered anything other than a military career.
Character Diamond:
Stoic – Although she is not really devoid of emotion (she actually feels quite deeply), Makea does appear to be quite dispassionate, as she tends to be quiet and contemplative of everything roiling around her, and almost never lets her emotions get the best of her – she rarely appears out of control. She listens deeply and processes adroitly, but often reserves her reactions even to the point of appearing aloof.
Athletic – While small and compact, Makea’s physique is quick and strong. She excels in virtually every athletic endeavor set before her, with great hand-eye coordination, superior dexterity and the ability to pace herself when endurance is required. She is good in team sports as she is an unselfish player, but excels in solo sports where she can single-mindedly focus on her goal. But a win is never as good as a game well played, in her philosophy and her practice.
Focused – Makea is focused to the point of single-mindedness. While this can be advantageous in combat missions and goal-oriented pursuits, it can give her the appearance of selfishness, especially to anyone hoping to engage her emotionally. This also allows for great potential for leadership, as she is able to hold other issues in abeyance while working with the matters at hand to achieve the appointed goals, even when under duress – or under enemy fire.
Devoted –Once you are her friend, you are her friend for life, almost to the point where she will blind herself to signs of character flaw. Of superiors, once she has deemed you worthy, she will follow you to the ends of the earth. She is also devoted to military service, and will not question the chain of command unless it is proven to be inept or corrupt – at which time she would not hesitate to disobey an order or file a complaint.
